Curriculum
In our lower elementary, grades 1-4, the focus is on building foundational knowledge in all subjects. We are dedicated to nurturing these students to become compassionate followers of God who are thriving academically, emotionally and socially. Our hope upon leaving the lower elementary classes is that students are able to read and write and have a firm grasp on foundational math concepts. Our curriculum includes opportunities for hands on and inquiry based learning.

Religion is more than just one subject during a student's day. It is part of all we do at St. Andrew. As a school, students:
- Attend weekly Catechesis of the Good Shepherd lessons, Adoration, and Mass on Fridays
- Each class has a corporal work of mercy they focus on throughout the year
- Every room is assigned a saint
- Learn about a different virtue each week as part of the Education in Virtues program
First Grade
Using the Spirit of Truth workbook, students in first grade focus on formal monthly prayers and virtues.Second Grade
In second grade, we use Sophia Press to cover the following topics throughout the year:- God is Our Father
- Jesus is the Son of God
- Jesus is Our Savior
- The Sacrament of Penance
- The Paschal Mystery
- The Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Jesus is With Us Today in the Church.
Our second graders also spend time working on communion preparation.Third/Fourth Grade
In the third/fourth grade room, we use Sophia Press to cover the following topics throughout the year:- Jesus reveals the Trinity

First Grade
Students explore economics and geography through the lens of their families, school and local community. Students think like historians to learn about schools of the past.Second Grade
This year, we will be learning: communities, maps, economics, Native American cultures, family history and citizenship.Third/Fourth Grade
This topic of the year is regions. We will go through each region: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, West. We will end by studying Michigan and do a big project on our countries National Parks!
