Eighth Grade Confirmation Preparation Confirmation Prep classes will be held on alternating Sunday evenings downstairs in the Youth Room beginning on Sunday, September 7th.
On the right side of your screen you will find all the information needed for this year. We will provide the students with binders and hard copies.
How our night will (usually) look:
6:45pm (or after 5:30 Mass) Confirmandi meet downstairs in the Youth Room
6:45 - 7:15 pm Welcome/game
7:15 - 8:00 pm Lesson/activity
8:00 - 8:30 pm Prayer in the church
8:30 - 9:00 pm Small Groups
9:00 pm DismissalOur Mission
Confirmation is a continuation of the gift freely given by God at Baptism. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "[T]he reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For 'by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.'"(CCC 1285, in text quotation from Lumen Gentium 11)
"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit - his actions, his gifts, and his biddings - in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community. the latter bears special responsibility for the preparation of confirmands." (CCC 1309)
Our mission is to create disciples of Jesus Christ who are prepared to begin their lifelong journey toward holiness. We will journey together through fellowship, small group discussion, prayer, and praise and worship during our Sunday evenings. Our Confirmation leaders are committed to providing all who attend our program an opportunity to encounter Christ through various means, including Bible reading and reflection, discussion, meditation, adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament, Mass, retreats, service opportunities and more.
