OUR NEXT BLOOD DRIVE is Sunday, August 9, 2026.
The schedule is available online for those interested in securing a specific time. We encourage all eligible donors to make time for blood donation, either with Versiti of Michigan or The American Red Cross. Both organizations allow you to search for a drive based on location (zip code) and dates/times that you are available. We especially appreciate appointments scheduled in advance of the drive weekend.
The Health Ministry team would like to thank everyone who donated blood, or attempted to do so, at the Versiti blood drive on April 12. Thanks to organizers Trish Durocher-Cupka and Patty Hoeft.
The Health Ministry team, along with Michigan Medicine, hosted a flu vaccine clinic on October 5, 2025. Approximately 45 vaccines, including high-dose vaccines for those aged 65 and older, were administered. We extend our gratitude to nurse Anne and Tina, the patient care assistant, for their professionalism and efficiency.
The 2025-2026 vaccines for the USA are trivalent, targeting three flu virus strains. *The high-dose vaccine, FLUAD*, produced by Seqirus, an Australian company, and manufactured in N. Carolina, utilizes inactivated viruses. Flu vaccinations have been shown to have benefits such as reducing the incidence of flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and even the risk of flu-related mortality.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the flu vaccine for most people as well as the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine for pregnant women and people over 75. Adults ages 60 – 74 who are at increased risk for severe RSV are recommended to get a flu vaccine as well as the newest COVID vaccine in time for winter.
www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules Here's to good health! It's still not too late to get a flu, RSV or Covid vaccine. Please discuss with your medical doctor (MD or DO), nurse practitioner (RN-NP) or physician assistant (PA).
