Our last parish blood drive was Sunday, August 10th.
The schedule is available online for those interested in securing a specific time. Please note that we encourage all eligible donors to make time for blood donation, either with Versiti of Michigan or The American Red Cross. Both organizations allow you to search for a drive based on location (zip code) and dates/times that you are available. We especially appreciate appointments scheduled in advance of the drive weekend.
The Health Ministry team would like to thank everyone who donated blood, or attempted to do so, at the Versiti of Michigan blood drive on August 10.8/10/2025 Drive Results:
Goal: 25 units
Collected: 31 units
This will be used to impact 93 lives across our community! YOUR DONATION IS A BLESSING!!The Health Ministry team, along with Michigan Medicine, will host a flu vaccine clinic on October 5, 2025, from 9:00am until 1:15pm. Last year, approximately 60 vaccines, including high-dose vaccines for those aged 65 and older, were administered. We extend our gratitude to the nurses and patient care assistants for their professionalism and efficiency. Michigan Medicine accepts MOST insurance plans. (We have not collected any payments in the last three years as MOST insurance covers the vaccine. You may want to check with your insurance company or Michigan Medicine.)
**Insurance card must be presented to clinic staff**
Those who are not covered by an insurance that Michigan Medicine accepts may pay for the flu shot by
check made payable to the University of Michigan or by credit card. The price of the flu shot is $45.20
for a regular flu shot (manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline in Canada), or $71.20 for high dose* (given to individuals 65 years and older).
Make your check-in process go quickly at the flu clinic!! Not a U of M patient? Or recently moved or
have an insurance change? Please call the UM Registration Department at 866-452-9896 to set up an
account or update your demographics and insurance. This will make your check-in process go quickly at the flu shot clinic and help reduce wait time.
Please Note: The flu vaccination is administered in the upper arm. Please wear clothing that provides
access to your upper arm.
The 2025-2026 vaccines for the USA are trivalent, targeting three flu virus strains. *The high-dose vaccine, FLUAD*, produced by Seqirus, an Australian company, and manufactured in North Carolina, utilizes inactivated viruses. Flu vaccinations have been shown to have benefits such as reducing the incidence of flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and even the risk of flu-related mortality.
FLUAD is a vaccine indicated for active immunization for the prevention of influenza disease caused by influenza virus subtypes A and type B contained in the vaccine. FLUAD is approved for use in adults 65 years of age and older.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the flu vaccine for most people as well as the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine for pregnant women and people over 75. Adults ages 60 – 74 who are at increased risk for severe RSV are recommended to get a flu vaccine as well as the newest COVID vaccine in time for winter.
