    Seeking the Truth
Hi, my name is Colton Mallouk. I’m currently a medical school applicant and am working at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. I’m a pilot, scuba diver, hiker, and I pretty much love doing anything outdoors.  Religious studies has always been a huge interest to me. I grew up in a Christian home and attended a Presbyterian church on Sundays and went to a Baptist elementary school. [Click picture to read more.]

Overcoming Misinformation & Discovering Christ in the Eucharist
Hey there! My name is Michael Paruank and I am so thankful to become a part of the St. Andrew family. This past year has been a time of learning and growing for me. I went from believing Catholicism was a false religion to being received into the church this week. In October of 2019, my dad went to our local library and picked up a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. [Click picture to read more.]

  • Why I Spend An Hour With Jesus: The Real Presence (Part 1 of 3)
Why I Spend An Hour With Jesus: The Real Presence (Part 1 of 3)
    by Dennis Pryzwara
After being raised in a devout Catholic family, receiving the sacraments and a Catholic education, I quit. I still called myself Catholic but only practiced my faith occasionally. Over many years the Lord drew me back to His Church. But one thing I struggled with was the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.... In the fall of 2015, two years after joining St Andrew Parish, I sincerely brought this question to God during Sunday Mass. [Click the title to read the full story.]

  • Finding A Perfect Spouse
    Finding A Perfect Spouse
Hi! My name is Carissa, and I am so, SO excited to be entering the Church! About a year and a half ago now, I started to feel like God wanted His Church to be unified, not only in heart but also in mind, in belief (Philippians 2:2, 1 Corinthians 1:10). But, I told Him that because we all have to read the Bible for ourselves, that was impossible, and I dared Him to show me how we were supposed to be one if that’s what He really wanted. A recipient of your generosity at Thanksgiving responds. "Being surprised in this awkward time of pandemic isolation by a small envelope on the floor just inside my apartment door was joyful, uplifting, and humbling. Being thought of and gifted with time, care, prayer, and a Buschs card lifts my spirit in a week when holiday of Thanksgiving will be observed alone" [Click to read her full letter]

  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes
My Life Flashed Before My Eyes
    by Deb Hemenway
During college, when I had grown lukewarm in my faith, God allowed trials in my life that continually serve as reminders to stay close to Him. One such event occurred while commuting to school in the late 70’s.  On a sunny morning following a Nor’easter, I hit a patch of ice and lost control of my vehicle. The car sped up while bouncing back and forth against the snowbanks on both sides of the road. [Click to read the full story.]

  • I Put Myself In God's Hands
I Put Myself In God's Hands
    by George Dikeman
Years ago, I had a nun tell me that if you don’t use your faith, you will lose it. It is a gift from God. I was given this gift as a child, and I bought the whole package. The Good Lord has saved my life more than once. When I was 10 years old, my parents had a summer cottage on Sugar Loaf Lake. One day, a friend and I rowed a boat across the lake, exploring a marshy area. [Click to read the full story]

  • Crushed By A Car
    Crushed By A Car
    by Paul Backlas
In early April 2020, I learned an important lesson about the power of prayer. I was seriously injured in a freakish auto accident. I was alone in my garage, with the car in reverse, not park; I got out and the open door knocked me down to the floor. The moving car ripped the door partly off its upper hinge and trapped me with the damaged car door laying across my chest. As I lay there, I remember saying, “Please God, I don’t want to die like this.”
